DIY Fall Design Tips for Your Curb Appeal

Now that fall is here, it’s a great opportunity to set up the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some fun DIY projects can be the perfect way to begin the season and get excited for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.

Enhance your curb appeal this year with these fun décor projects that are easy, fresh and on-trend:

Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This DIY will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you want to place the garland. Either way, all this project takes is a few easy steps: decide how long you want the rope (outlining your windows or door) with a few additional inches to get a droopy effect, and attach corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Hang your new garland to highlight your home access points!

Project #2: Door Wreath
Take the beautiful fall colors and transform them into a DIY wreath to hang on your door. You’ll need a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. Here are the steps: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the burlap pieces around the wreath while gluing foliage in between the burlap sections.

Project #3: Welcome Sign
Add warmth to your home this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign on your door. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw attention toward your festive fall entryway.

While adding fun DIY projects to the outside of your home is a fun way to get into the season spirit, make sure to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the colder weather, too. They may look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are old or unprepared for the approaching winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling pretty uncomfortable in the upcoming months.
